The sixth annual Indiana Logistics Summit wase held on Nov. 12, 2008, at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. Presented by the Ports of Indiana and Purdue University, the summit brought together leaders from the worlds of industry, academia, public policy and government to discuss how to make Indiana's transportation, distribution and logistics businesses more competitive and what it will take to make this state a leader in the world of logistics.

Srinivas Peeta, Ph.D., of Purdue University's NEXTRANS Center opens Networking Day at the 2007 Indiana Logistics Summit. Networking Day featured panel discussions, this one on logistics needs of top U.S. shippers featuring William Friedman of Duke Realty Corp., Gary Mabrey of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC, Aaron Largent and Sean Casey of Rolls Royce Corp., William Jenkins of ArcelorMittal Steel and Barry Hiquet of Cummins Inc.
Gov. Mitch Daniels opens Keynote Day at the 2007 Indiana Logistics Summit. Michael Gallis, the country's leading expert in large-scale regional development strategies, speaks at the 2007 Indiana Logistics Summit. Ken Kaczmarek, chairman of the Indiana Ports Commission, speaks at the 2007 Indiana Logistics Summit. Rich Cooper, executive director of Ports of Indiana, accepted the Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award from Collister (''Terry'') Johnson, Jr., administrator of the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. The award, presented to Federal Marine Terminals and the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, recognized the port's 73 percent jump in international freight tonnage in 2006.
Ian Hirt, general manager of Federal Marine Terminals, accepted the Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award from Collister (''Terry'') Johnson, Jr., administrator of the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. The award, presented to Federal Marine Terminals and the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor, recognized the port's 73 percent jump in international freight tonnage in 2006. Former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta praised Indiana's innovations in transportation during his keynote address at the 2007 Indiana Logistics Summit. Networking Day featured panel discussions, this one on logistics needs of top U.S. shippers featuring Chris McGrath of First Industrial Development Services, Inc., Bryan Seidenstickerk of Brightpoint N.A., Dave Hesson of Clarian Health Partners, Inc. and Bill Bostock and Chris Robb of UPS.
